How to Verify that Your Phone Really Supports USB OTG

What is USB on the Go?

USB OTG (USB On The Go) enables your phone to act as a USB host – in other words, to operate other devices that you connect to it. It allows your phone to connect additional hardware such as storage, keyboards or in our case the Therm-App.

 

How do I know if my Android device supports USB OTG?

If your phone was released in the last 3 years. You can almost guarantee your phone will support it.

There are a couple of ways to make sure. One of them is to download an App which checks your phone. An example of an excellent APP is called OTG 

In addition, you can refer to sites like www.gsmarena.com to check your specific device. And look in the COMMS sections:

Under USB if it says USB Host or USB On-The-Go. It means your phone supports it.

If your phone is not compatible. We suggest purchasing a cheap unlocked cell phone like the Samsung Galaxy S3 and make it a dedicated phone for the Therm-App. Remember that no internet connection is required after the initial download, which can be done by using Wi-Fi. So there is no monthly plan required.
